17.08.2023: With the completion of 38 years, since its inception in 1985, Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala observed its 39th Foundation Day on 17.08.2023. Over an immaculate journey spanning 38 yrs, RCF has become a highly recognized and a premier production unit of Indian Railways manufacturing world class rail coaches .
On this occasion , a tree plantation was done for thirdMiyawaki forest in RCF in which650 saplings of 55 different varieties offruit , shade , herbal trees andflowering shrubs were planted . It was attended by Sh. Ashesh Agrawal GM RCF besides all PHODs, HODs and othersSaplings of Jamun, Guava, Pomegranate, Tamarind, Suhanjana, Curry leaves, Insulin, Harsingar, Arjuna, Putranjuva, Ashwagandha, Bay leaf, Neem, Tun, Chukrasia, Bargad, Peepal, Shisham, Ashoka, Hibiscus, Raat Ki Rani, Chandni etc. were planted. These saplings were planted with the help of a team of well-known environmentalist Sant Sewa Singh Nishan-e-Sikhi Charitable Trust Khadoor Sahib .
Also, on the occasion of the foundation day, a cultural program wasorganized at Waris Shah Hall of RCF, which was presided over by Shri. Ashesh Agrawal, General Manager, RCF .Mrs. Surabhi Agrawal, President, RCF Women's Welfare Organization was the special guest on the occasion . Many impressive cultural presentations were staged in this program.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ashesh Agrawal said that the purpose of laying the foundation stone of this factory on 17th August, 1985 was to introduce new technology in coaches, besidesincreasing coach productionand generating employment for the youth. Hitherto,RCF has produced more than 42500 rail coaches and has manufactured many world class coaches with latest technology which has carried the fame of Rail Coach Factory far and wide in the world.
Over the past three and a half decades, RCF Kapurthala has been at the forefront of upgrading rolling stock in Indian Railways, making rail travel more comfortable, he added. Shri Agrawalsaid that recently RCF has manufactured narrow gauge panoramic coaches for Kalka-Shimla Railway, recognised by UNESCO as mountain railways of India World Heritage Site. Apart from this, the productionof Double Decker Cargoliners and LHB GS AC is nowin full swing at RCF.Also, RCF has also received an order to make 16 Vande Bharat Transats. In his address, Shri Agrawal said thatRCF produced 1651 coaches in the last financial year and became the only unit of Indian Railways to achieve IRIS Silver certification.
