Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Member Rolling Stock , Railway Board visits Rail Coach Factory
Mr. Rajesh Agarwal, Member Rolling Stock, Railway Board, visited Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala on 17.10.2018 where he was greeted by General Manager of RCFMr. S.P. Trivedi and other Senior Officers. Mr. Agrawal has taken over as the Member Rolling Stock in the Railway Board recently and as a Member, this is his first visit to RCF.
On arrival at RCF, He inspected the coach manufacturingprocesses in the workshop.He also inspected the coaches being made by RCF for Buddhist Circuit rakewhichis being manufactured as per requirements of IRCTC and include four First AC, two Second AC tourist coaches, one third AC coach, two Dining Cars, one Pantry Car, and two Power Cars. RCF has been given the task of manufacturing the coaches in a short span of time and designs were finalised in 15 days time. First AC Coach has 24 berths and is equipped with pleasing PVC film draped interior, besides water geysers for shower and hand drier in lavatories. Second AC coaches have 30 berths and sofa seats placedon the side berth area. Each coach has provision of lockers for keeping of passengers valuable items. Water storage capacity in each has been enhanced and special safety features in form of CCTV control, Fire Alarm etc have been added. Each Dining Car will have 64 seats and are to be equipped with Tea/Coffee Vending machine and Venetian Blind Windows for panoramic outside view. The exterior of each coach is designed with colourful and vibrant vinyl draping. Shri Agrawal praised the speedy manufacturing of coaches and gave valuable tips in the process.
Member,Rolling Stockheld a purposeful meeting with General Manager on core issues pertaining to production output and also interacted with RCF officerson various issues, assuring full support from Railway Board.
He also held a meeting with members of various unions/associations ofRCF in which he stressed upon the importance of cordial relations between unions and administration , at the same time reaching them to render help in increasing the production of coaches which has seen a downfall in recent past. Shri Agrawal also held meeting with Vendors who supply material to RCF for coach manufacturing.
He appreciated RCF’s contribution in making Indian Railways attuned to world standards and stressed upon RCF to work hard to regain its apex position in coach manufacturing. He advised RCF to follow the best practices to enhance its production.He said Railway Board will provide every assistance to it so that its name is again at the top among all production units of Indian Railways.
